NEED DIRECT INJECTION HELP PLEASE
I have made a switch box for my hifi rack gear, to switch between radios and also go from rack gear to stock mic and radio, without unhooking anything, just flip a switch or two. I will be posting pics once I figure one thing out, to make another option in switch box. Can anyone tell me or give me a place to see how to direct inject a cobra 2000 gtl and a galazy 2547. I have done the cap mods and getting great reports, but I have been seeing a lot about direct injection and would like to give it a try. I tried on my 2000 on my own with no luck. Can't figure where to go in at. Thanks for any help or ideas. Soon as box is done I will post the schematic I made and pics of the box, so if anyone wants to give it a shot or just give a opinion.
I'm feeling like being in a giving mood. So here goes. C174 attach positive side of electrolytic to the hole with red dot in attached pics for the 2000. Same thing for C235 for the 2547. Hope that helps. As for driving the modulator/regulator, you'll need more drive for the 2000 from your rack. What handle do you go buy? If you need any help drop me a line, I live down the road in Charlottesville. Take Care 31

Gonna try it out this weekend, before I do, quick check so I don't back feed my circuit. I lift the leg if cap to inject then put cap on toggle. That what I was thinking, correct me if I am wrong please. thanks 31
Re: 31
The place where I put the red dot is the lead of the capacitor that you want to leave soldered in, the leg that got removed/lifted is where you will run the external audio to. Also what some people do is install a bigger cap ranging from 4.7 to 10 uF electrolytic. My buddy was telling me about a capacitor that he got and referred to it as puff, its a pet peeve that I have to call it as what it is and I know it is just a slang term for it. So unit of measure for a cap is in Farads. As you decrease in size, it becomes a fraction of a whole number. As you move to the right of the decimal point(whole number) in increments of three it goes like this. Milli (mF), micro (uF), nano (nF) and pico (pF). For example if you see 1uF, it would be the same as saying 0.000001 farad. Sorry for the rant but I wouldn't be doing myself any justice if I didn't try to give back. There is also a dictionary way to describe it but oh well I tried. Good luck with your project. I got to much projects going to even finish one.2510gutbuster wrote:Gonna try it out this weekend, before I do, quick check so I don't back feed my circuit. Thanks 31, no apology needed, I am just learning a lot of this, and my grandfather told me that the best knowledge that one can get is to pay attention and listen to others. I try some things on my own, some work and others have destroyed a lot of radios, but I learn how to fix it. So anytime anyone gives info I am a sponge. Thank you again 31

Thanks again, I done the 2000 and I love it, I was able to study the sams book and learn why it goes in where it does, so I am going to study my other radios and figure them out. It made a world of difference. Thanks again! You and goldfinger have really helped me learn a lot, but still learning everyday. Thanks again and everyone take care!
